Flagship Capital Partners with Dominion Realty Partners to Build Eco-Friendly Building Flagship Capital Partners with Dominion Realty Partners to Build Eco-Friendly Building Raleigh, N.C., August 25, 2008 -- Dominion Realty Partners, LLC announced they are to break ground on the development of The Genworth Building, a 134,152 square foot eco-friendly building This deal has been 18 months in the making and when completed on October 1, 2009, Genworth, which currently employs approximately 600 people in the North Raleigh area, will be moving both its international division headquarters and U.S. mortgage insurance headquarters to the new six-story, LEED registered, 134,152 square foot building with a four (4) story parking deck on a very wooded site. Dominion Realty Partners has registered this project with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) and, upon completion, aims for Silver certification from the USGBC Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. LEED is a green building rating system that has been developed by the U.S. Green Building Council. Its purpose is to encourage and accelerate the global adoption of sustainable green building and development practices through the creation and implementation of universally understood and accepted tools and performance criteria. Sarah Bagby, Domestic Real Estate Manager for Genworth Financial, Inc. commented, "Genworth is committed to its employees, the Raleigh community and, as a global company, to the environment as a whole. The site was chosen for its location, its green characteristics, and for Dominion's integrity and shared commitment to these values." Andy Andrews, president and CEO of Dominion Realty Partners stated, "We are pleased that Genworth has selected Dominion as the developer of its high-performance LEED-registered building." “We are also excited about partnering with Flagship Capital Partners to bring a quality real estate deal of this magnitude to the Six Forks area of Raleigh.” Genworth is currently housed on Six Forks Road, two miles south of the new facility being developed by Dominion. The Genworth Building will be located adjacent to the Forum Office Park on the corner of Monument Lane and Six Forks Road. The location will provide easy access to Interstate 540, and is convenient to the larger Raleigh-Durham metropolitan area. Dominion extends appreciation to the lenders, partners and communities it serves, as well as the staff of the City of Raleigh for its efforts in helping with this project, and Colliers Pinkard who represented Genworth Financial in this transaction. The building construction team consists of MSTSD Architects of Atlanta, Georgia, Choate Construction, and Piedmont Land Design (Civil Engineer), Hal Worth with DLTB of Raleigh provided the financing through M&I Bank.
